I moved to Canada from Cameroon at 18. My family took on significant debt to support my engineering education, but after graduating, I found myself working 12-hour shifts in a remote mining camp and missing important moments in my life.
Rather than returning to school for another degree, I learned how to build practical evidence of competence, position my experience and navigate the data job market more strategically.
I later transitioned into a six-figure remote data career and founded LumiSkills to help other professionals make the same kind of deliberate career move.
Since then, I have coached hundreds of professionals through the transition into data, including career switchers, engineers, nurses and internationally trained professionals whose experience was previously being overlooked.
